The Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLRO marked one of the most anticipated returns in modern Rolex history: the first stainless steel “Pepsi” GMT since the two-tone and white gold versions that had dominated the reference for years. Released in 2018, this watch revives the red-and-blue colour scheme first seen on the original 1955 GMT-Master, created for Pan Am pilots to track two time zones at once, while pairing it with a genuinely modern movement and, notably, the reintroduction of the Jubilee bracelet to the GMT-Master II line for the first time.
The 40mm Oystersteel case carries Rolex’s bidirectional 24-hour Cerachrom ceramic bezel in two-tone red and blue, moulded from a single piece of ceramic and virtually immune to fading or scratching. The black dial is fitted with luminous hour markers and the model’s signature 24-hour GMT hand in red, allowing home time to be tracked at a glance alongside local time, with a date window at 3 o’clock beneath the Cyclops lens.
Inside is the Rolex Calibre 3285, a Manufacture movement introduced alongside this reference, featuring the Chronergy escapement and a blue Parachrom hairspring for improved shock and magnetic resistance. It delivers an approximate 70-hour power reserve and is certified as a Superlative Chronometer. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and screw-down Triplock crown help the case achieve 100 metres of water resistance.
The five-piece link Jubilee bracelet, originally created for the 1945 Datejust, brings a more refined, dressier look than the standard Oyster bracelet, finished with the Oysterlock safety clasp and Rolex’s Easylink extension for approximately 5mm of on-the-wrist adjustment.
Combining genuine historical resonance with modern engineering, the GMT-Master II “Pepsi” 126710BLRO remains one of the most in-demand steel sports watches Rolex produces, and one of the clearest examples of the brand listening to its collector base.
