The Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5168G-001 is the larger “Jumbo” expression of one of the Maison’s most recognisable sports models, cased in 18ct white gold and finished with the collection’s signature embossed blue dial. Introduced to mark 20 years of the Aquanaut line, this reference brings a bolder 42.2mm presence to a watch originally conceived as a more casual, contemporary companion to the Nautilus.

The dial is where this reference makes its statement: a sunburst blue finish with a graduated black rim, embossed with the Aquanaut’s distinctive pattern and echoed on the strap for a cohesive look. White gold applied Arabic numerals and baton-style hands, both filled with white luminescent coating, keep the dial highly legible day and night. The rounded octagonal bezel combines polished and satin finishes, a hallmark of the Aquanaut’s understated sports-luxury identity, while a sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the movement.

Inside is the self-winding Calibre 26-330 S C, a Patek Philippe in-house movement built from 207 components with 30 jewels and a power reserve of between 35 and 45 hours. It’s fitted with a 21K gold central rotor, Gyromax balance, and Spiromax balance spring, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal — the manufacture’s own mark of quality and finishing. The movement drives the date aperture and sweep seconds display, keeping the dial clean and functional.

Completing the piece is an integrated midnight blue composite strap, embossed to match the dial, secured by Patek Philippe’s patented white gold fold-over clasp. The case is water-resistant to 30 metres and fitted with a screw-down crown, making this reference better suited to everyday wear and light water exposure than serious diving.
